Desigo CC is truly the most open building automation system on the market with the system communication being via ASHRAE’s open communication protocol of BACnet. Desigo communicates via BACnet/IP at the supervisory level and BACnet/MSTP at the field controller level. This open communication protocol means that an investment in Desigo is protected for years to come while allowing the system to communicate with other manufacturers of DDC controllers. Along with the BACnet protocol, Siemens offers communication drivers for other 3rd party proprietary communication protocols that allow you to manage all of your systems from a single seat via Desigo. Desigo also provides a web-based user interface, so the days of a single dedicated workstation for the building automation system have gone by the wayside.
